Through individualized teaching approaches, adaptive materials, and experienced staff, the camp empowers students with disabilities to enhance their skills, build self-confidence, and thrive academically. Group Academic and Social Camp (6 to 8 students per session) | The academic and social camp provides a unique blend of educational and social experiences for students. Youth PEERS Social Skills Camp (6 to 8 students per session) | The Youth PEERS Social Skills Camp is a specialized program designed to support neurodivergent youth and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in developing social skills and building meaningful connections. Through evidence-based practices, structured activities, and individualized coaching, participants engage in a supportive environment that promotes social growth and enhances their overall social well-being. Training designed and supported by evidence-based research by the University of California (UCLA) Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior. PEERS Social Skills Camp for Teens (6 to 8 students per session) | The PEERS Social Skills Camp for Teens is a specialized program designed to support neurodivergent teens and teens with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in developing social skills and building meaningful connections. Through evidence-based practices, structured activities, and individualized coaching, participants engage in a supportive environment that promotes social growth and enhances their overall social well-being. Homeschool Student Evaluation of Progress (Individual) | The evaluation of progress sessions for homeschooled students involves employing diverse methods like standardized testing, portfolio reviews, observation, and parent-teacher conferences to assess academic achievements, developmental milestones, and overall growth. Evaluation may consist of the following: examining work samples, test scores, and levels of engagement. The evaluation administrator's goal is to obtain valuable insights into the students' strengths and areas needing improvement, enabling them to ensure the students' educational needs are being effectively met and that the student is making typical progress. What is the VA Learning Acceleration Grant and how to apply?
The VA Learning Acceleration Grant program allows Virginia families to utilize up to $3,000 per student for tutoring and educational services through this grant initiative in 2023. Here's what you need to know about eligibility and the application process:
Eligibility:
Starting in May 2023, parents in Virginia with school-age children can apply for the grant.
The grant is open to all students of school age who have not graduated.
Families residing in Virginia with school-age children attending public schools, charter schools, private schools, or homeschools are eligible to apply.
Application Process:
To apply for a $1,500 K-12 Learning Acceleration Grant, parents need to submit the required documents for each eligible child, including proof of residency in Virginia, confirmation of school-age status, and proof that the child has not graduated.
Some students may qualify for a $3,000 K-12 Learning Acceleration Grant if their family income does not exceed 300% of the Federal Poverty Guideline.
The first grant purchase must be made within 30 days of confirming your account, and the first $750 of all grant awards must be spent by August 15, 2023.
How does the grant work?
The VA Learning Acceleration Grant provides flexibility in choosing resources that align with your child's academic needs and goals. The grant can cover various types of tutoring, including:
Preventing summer learning loss: We are offering academic and social groups that help your child maintain their learning progress during the summer break, ensuring they enter the next school year with confidence.
Targeting core subjects: Our instructors are experts across grade levels and subjects such as math, writing, reading, science, and social studies. Our instructors can help your child overcome learning obstacles and enhance their abilities.
Supporting neurodivergent students: We offer inclusive learning environments and classes designed for neurodivergent students, such as those with autism, ADD, ADHD, or other unique learning needs.
